Ouroboros
Death is a universal experience that is complicated, layered, and by no means linear. By approaching death and grief in my life through the creation of photographs, I have found a sense of rebirth-inevitable change that comes from the process of moving through loss. The symbol of the ouroboros- the snake eating its own tail, a symbol of infinite cycles and change, represents the seasons of our lives and the never ending process of growth and how from the darkest times, we can come out stronger than before. These processes are inevitably tied to nature, growth being a process I have sought continuously through my own experiences.
Within these images is a series of self-portraits depicting the death, burial, decay, and rebirth of a soul.
